Tips for the month - Brunch Presentation tips from Monique:
Brunch is a lazy late breakfast/lunch. The menu can go either towards breakfast or lunch... Cold meat, smoked meat, eggs and cheese works well.(quiche, pate, sweet and savoury pastries, cheese and preserves, fritatta, oven bakes, individual fruit/yoghurt/muesli and always a nice little dessert)
Always make sure you have enough variants for vegetarians/children and any other specific dietry requirements.
If the brunch is held on a Sunday get a selection of papers..this also makes for interesting conversation.
Decor/setting should be simple and not too formal...add a special toy/treat for kids.
Use a nice wooden chopping board for cheese/bread and pastries...with a sheet of baking paper or a linen
Cake stands, small glasses for fruit and yoghurt, wine glasses with a light/healthy dessert also keeps it interesting
Buffet/self dish is the best option...this way guests can help themselves to more and this puts less stress on the hostess/host...
A nice jug with a light champagne/juice cocktail with cut fruit and mint also adds to the festivity
Get everything ready before your guests arrive...chop and pre cook your food the day before and finish off in the morning...add a nice touch of music and lots of sunlight and flowers. |
