Mmmmm, I need to give this some thought. I love anything that has been made with “soul” – and more often than not, I like lots of it.  

Why do you like working for Succulent Décor and Succulent Café?
Where else would I rather be?  Life is about people, relationships and experiences – and both Succulent Décor and Succulent Café allow me the opportunity to really be me.  No boundaries!

I can also say that the Succulent team is a wonderful, energetic family and each individual has a unique and special contribution to make.

This all adds up to making Succulent an energising place to be.  

My philosophy
We only have one life to live and I think it’s best to live it to the full (actually life must overflow with happiness, passion and joy). For me this means living it succulently!  Just think about it;  there are actually not enough hours in a day to have fun. I often catch myself thinking how super it would have been if I could just have one more hour.  But hey, why waste time pondering the impossible? Rather seize the opportunity - and soar ahead. That’s exactly what time is defined as in my world.  Succulent Décor and Succulent Café was borne out of passion.  Simple! Passion for life… for colour, design, form and food.  When you approach life with real passion, anything is possible.

It was easy for me.  The choice was mine.  After all it’s my life to live.  So I chose the path of happiness.

I believe that “Money flows toward goodness, and the more fun we have the more it will appear”…so our aim at Succulent is to have as much fun as we possibly can.

Give us some insight into your world outside of work
I have a fabulous husband Deon who has never “clipped my wings”. I have amazing parents, Gary and Trudi, who inspire me to be me and more. My two wonderful sisters are unique and simply love me for me.  Between my sisters I have four nieces and a very special nephew. And I also have five sausage dogs (these are my babies). What do I do for fun? I simply do ’life’.

Favourite food
At the moment I enjoy anything Italian - pasta, pizza and large fresh salads. Try the gastronomical pizza topping combinations that Monique dreams up, DELICIOUS!

Why do you like working for Succulent Décor and Succulent Café?
After three years I still catch myself smiling in the mornings when I open the shop in Irene ...I wonder how many people can say the same.

What is your philosophy in life?
Have fun in whatever you do in life...

Give us some insight into your world outside of work
 My partner, Marius, and I have been playing house together for almost three years now. We share our home with an overweight cat called 'Vuurpyl'. I LOVE gardening and spending time in the sun, and recently joined a pilates class.

Favourite food
I love all food, except Brussel sprouts; though I also wouldn't mind very much if tomorrow there was no meat. It has also been said that I will do anything for a scoop of ice cream...

Why do you like working for Succulent Décor and Succulent Café?
Because I work with the most awesome team in the whole world....full of talent, passion, humour, love and friendships.

What makes you tick?
Laugh, laugh, laugh...at yourself, at others and situations. It is most certainly an infallible cure to everything!

Give us some insight into your world outside of work
I have wonderful family and friends. I spend a lot of time with my sisters, their partners and their kids.
I love shopping...for anything. I read till early hours of the morning and even read magazines and food labels.

Favourite food
My favourite food is lasagne - any way, shape or form.  And I love a good potato bake with cheese topping.

Why do you like working for Succulent Décor and Succulent Café?
 I’ve been working for Succulent Décor for two and a half years and continue to do so because it is a happy environment with great colleagues. There is never a dull day.  I can live out my eccentricities through the shop - with weird and wacky things and ideas that I’m too conservative to actually act upon.

What makes you tick?
My philosophy in life is to do good, be strong, understand and accept peoples’ differences (this is a work in progress) and get on with it.  Life often throws you a curve ball and how you handle it is what really counts.

Give us some insight into your world outside of work
I’m married to Leon, and have been for 22 years now. We have four children: Stephany (21) studying Archaeology in England; Willow (19) making plans to study BIS Publishing at Tukkies; Dune (16) ingrade 11 at Pretoria Boys High; and Callum (15) in grade 9 at Pretoria Boys High.

Chicken a la king and pap with spinach morogo.

Why do you like working for Succulent Décor and Succulent Café?
I like working for Succulent Décor because it gives me joy in my heart; I like waking up every day to come to work. I’ve learnt a lot and enjoy working as a member of a great team where we help and encourage each other.  My boss lady is also great.

What makes you tick?
 I deal with people in a friendly manner and always treat them with respect and trust that they do the same for me.  I have a ‘live and let live’ attitude and believe we can all be happy together.

Give us some insight into your world outside of work
I’m a single parent with one daughter, Florence, aged 23.  I have two grandchildren, Phili (6) and Siya (2).  They bring me a lot of joy.  I like to be at home with my family - watching TV, reading magazines and listening to gospel music.  I am also involved with my church and attend services every Sunday.

Haven’t really got any; I’m always open to try something new – as long as I can have it with wine!

Why do you like working for Succulent Décor and Succulent Café?
Great exposure to the design industry; and of course the ‘cool family’!

What is your philosophy in life?
‘Hou op terwyl dit nog lekker is’ (Stop while you’re still having fun)

Give us some insight into your world outside of work?
Outside work I’m an interior design student. I love classical music, theatre and stage productions, and spend most of my time with close friends and family.

Favourite food
The best cheesecake that I’ve ever eaten was from Succulent Café for my birthday. And now I need “Succulent-Café-cheesecake-rehab – because I’m HOOKED! I am also totally in love with sushi.

Why do you like working for Succulent Décor and Succulent Café?
Succulent Décor makes me tick. It’s not work - everyone at Succulent Décor is one big family. I really admire Anisa and François for making this shop so spectacular. “It’s not a shop; it’s a MOERSE EXPERIENCE” is what it says on the rustic sign at the entrance to the shop. I couldn’t put it better myself.

What makes you tick?
 I am a fashion designer and Coco Chanel is a huge inspiration for me. One of her famous quotes is: “Be the change you want to see in the world”.           
This is exactly how I see Succulent Décor; making a difference in peoples’ lives every single day.  Short and sweet.

Give us some insight into your world outside of work
 I am getting my degree in fashion design after four years of very hard work. A lot of people will wonder how fashion and interior link. Both worlds are creative, innovative and inspiring. I did my internship at Succulent Décor in 2008 and also gave the shop a ‘FASHIONable’ touch. Come and see for yourself…

 My favourite food is anything that looks exciting, is made with love and is very tasty....

Why do you like working for Succulent Décor and Succulent Café?
I’ve come a long way with Succulent Decor and working with the people and being around pretty and wonderful things is just a pleasure!  We’ve become a big loving family and with Succulent Cafe as part of it makes it even better

What is your philosophy in life?
My philosophy in life is that each day there is a purpose for me and experiencing and figuring out that purpose can be so much fun!
